We care for Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers
Parenting for these little ones at this age becomes more demanding because you have to think about their safety and care. We here at Kid City understand the Toddlers desire to explore new objects and people at this stage. They are ready to learn and we are prepared to guide them in recognising names of familiar people, places, things and objects, form simple phrases and sentences, and follow simple instructions and directions.
There is no child like your child and every child’s development is unique. Its been said that at this stage its the “magic years” because your Pre-Schooler is listening and it is time for them to use their imagination and let it run wild. Your Pre-Schooler will develop in many ways: they will ask many questions, be more active, their memory will be that of an elephant- sharp. At this age they will learn to read and write, and become aware of their hidden talents.
Welcome to Kid City Learning Centre. Kid City was established in 1980 by Diane Hudson. Since our beginning we have continued to provide the highest quality childcare for all the children enrolled at the centre each year. We would like to help you to become an integral part of our school community. Our current staff consists of sixteen (16) females and one (1) male. Each class has one (1) teacher and two (2) assistants. Our doors are always open to any questions you may have. We are honoured to have your child enrolled at Kid City; and we will do our best to give your child the very best care and early childhood education.
Kid City is an independent, privately owned, early childhood centre. We provide year round, full day programmes, serving the childcare needs of working families with children aged 12 months to 4 years.
A safe, warm, inviting classroom environment draws the children in to learn. At times the focus of activities in a classroom is pre-planned according to the seasons of the year, cultural holidays, interests of the class and other special events. Children want to learn, and learning should be enjoyable and non-pressured! We at Kid City believe that children learn the best when they can connect information to their own experiences. Some activities are not planned ahead of time. They are spontaneous occurrences or “teachable moments”. The schedule is flexible to take advantage of impromptu experiences.
We value the importance of play in the lives of children. Time for uninterrupted free play, wherever the child chooses, is part of each day. What may look like a rather chaotic time at first glance is actually a lot of very busy children engaging in many different activities.
Art is viewed as creative expression. some children will do very little artwork, or none at all. But they are learning other things in other areas of the room. children’s preferences are viewed as a healthy indicator of developing self-concept.
At circle time, all children in the class gather to greet each other, observe the weather, learn a concept, or sing a song. Children are exposed to various concepts appropriate to the developmental level of the class. Circle time is meant to be fun, interactive time.
Physical education outdoor each day is a time for children to explore, express themselves loudly and freely; and exercise large muscle skills like running, jumping, balancing, climbing, swinging or digging.
